About
In my Omakau workshop, I meticulously handcraft each knife, overseeing every step from forging and grinding to hardening the blades and creating the boxes that house them. I primarily use D2 steel or Damascus (pattern-welded) steel for the blades, but I also offer a variety of stainless and non-stainless alternatives. For the handles, I favor New Zealand native timbers or bone.
My journey began in Crewetown, Christchurch, where I set up my first workshop. In 2010, I relocated to Ophir in Central Otago and established my current workshop in nearby Omakau.
This journey has now become that of Jamie’s. His passion for the craft shows in his work and I look forward to seeing what he does in the next chapter of Lorimer Knives. I’ll still be about to pass my 30 years of knowledge on to Jamie and work alongside him when needed.
“Peter’s work is the real deal. His knives are beautiful and deadly sharp. I’d take one to a gun fight.” – Al Brown
“Good grief, these knives are fantastic. Our customers clearly agree, as we’re constantly buying replacements due to them getting slipped into handbags.” – Simon Gault
